Learn how to use the music module

Music module

With XHub Media Center, it's easy to access your entire iTunes music library. You can use XHub to play individual songs, entire albums or playlists, view album covers, play songs by genre or composer, and watch captivating visualizations that change with the rhythm of your music.

1. Press the MENU button on your remote to open the XHub main menu. Then select Music.

2. You will be presented with options to browse your iTunes music library by playlist, artist, album, song, genre and composer.

If you have inserted an audio CD or connected an iPod to your Mac, options for these will also be presented. You also have access to music shared via the Bonjour network, if the shared playlist has been "loaded" by iTunes before you entered the hub.

If iTunes is already playing when you enter the music menu, an option to enter the Now Playing view will be presented as well. You will also see options to set the shuffle state and repeat mode of the current playlist, and to fetch missing artwork from the internet.

You can also choose a visual presentation of all your albums, by selecting the Cover Flow option. You can then use the remote to control the Cover Flow view by doing the following:

• Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to select an album.
• Press the LEFT ARROW button to navigate to the previous album.
• Press the RIGHT ARROW button to navigate to the next album.
• Press the MENU button to return to the music menu.

3. Once you have made your selection, you enter the NOW PLAYING view. You can now use the remote to control the music by doing the following:

• Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to pause/resume the song.
• Press the LEFT ARROW button to return to the previous song.
• Press the RIGHT ARROW button to skip to the next song.
• Hold the LEFT ARROW button to rewind the song.
• Hold the RIGHT ARROW button to fast forward the song.
• Press the MENU button to return to the music menu.
• Give the MENU button a long press to trigger the SPECIAL ACTION.

The SPECIAL ACTION of the Now Playing view is by default set to Live Rating. You can change this setting in XHub's preference pane. Available actions are:

Live rating. Decrease the rating of the current song by pressing the LEFT ARROW button. Increase the rating by pressing the RIGHT ARROW button. Hold the MENU button to set the new rating. Press the MENU button to dismiss.

Cover Flow. Enter the Cover Flow view. Use the LEFT ARROW and RIGHT ARROW button to navigate, and the PLAY/PAUSE button to play/pause the selected album. Press the MENU button to dismiss.

Fetch artwork. Automatically searches the internet for album artwork. If an artwork is found, you can choose to add the artwork to all songs of the current album by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE button. Press the MENU button to dismiss.

Shuffle songs. Toggle the play order of the current playlist. When enabled, songs are played in random order.

Repeat mode. Set the repeat mode of the current playlist. Available modes are no repeat, repeat all songs and repeat current song.

Additional information

The audio visualizer can be disabled in the settings menu at the main menu level.
