XHub
Is there a manual for XHub?
Can XHub damage my system?
No. XHub does not tamper with any system files. Installing XHub is perfectly safe.
What files are installed by XHub?
Only one: the XHub preference pane. The preference pane is installed in either /Library/PreferencePanes/ or ~/Library/PreferencePanes/, depending on where you choose to install XHub.
How can I uninstall XHub?
Simply remove the XHub preference pane. Open System Preferences, option-click on the XHub icon and select "Remove". You should quit XHub before removing the preference pane.
How can I force quit XHub?
XHub runs as an invisible background process. This means you cannot force quit XHub with Command+Option+Escape. Use Command+Option+Q instead. XHub will then be force quit by XHub Helper (another background process). Command+Q exits the hub normally.
Can I make XHub appear in the Dock?
Yes. Making a background process visible in the Dock is really very simple. Just follow these simple steps:
1) In Finder, navigate to [~]/Library/PreferencePanes/XHub.prefPane
2) Option-click on XHub.prefPane, select “Show package contents” from the pop-up menu
3) Navigate to /Contents/Resources/
4) Option-click on Xhub.app, select “Show package contents” from the pop-up menu
5) Open the file “Info.plist” in any text editor
6) Find these two lines:
<key>LSUIElement</key>
<string>1</string>
7) Change “ <string>1</string>” to “ <string>0</string>”
8) Save the file and re-launch XHub. You will now see the XHub icon in the Dock.
How can I play DivX movies?
XHub is over-scanned on my secondary display.
XHub's fullscreen window is automatically set to fit your main monitor. You can adjust the size and aspect ratio of the fullscreen window to fit on your TV or attached display in the Settings menu.
Can I run XHub on my secondary display only?
No, this is currently not possible.
They tell me XHub supports movie posters, but I don't see any.
XHub will only display posters dropped in ~/Pictures/Movie Posters/. You must create this folder yourself. The images must be of JPG format and have the same name as the movie (except for the file extension). You may also add folder posters.
How can I access shared music?
Shared playlists and radio stations must first be "loaded" by iTunes before XHub can provide access to them (due to Apple restrictions).
iDisco
Is there a manual for iDisco?
I registered a very long time ago. After upgrading to the latest version, my license key is no longer accepted. Do I have to pay for a new license?
No. You just have to write your old license key directly to the preferences file. Open up the terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and run this command:
defaults write tk.snarb.idisco2 LicenseKey 123...
(Where 123... is your license key). Then relaunch the software. This will get you back on track.
